Note: When caring for children under the age of 18 months, we allow for flexibility of scheduling and allow of child lead times for feeding and napping.
Please note that all times are flexible. Meal times though are scheduled with the Food Program and are set for inspection. If you wish your child to join us for meals, please be conscious of the set time. All meals follow the food guide pyramids and are approved by the FDA and Board of Education. A copy of the menu is posted on the refrigerator in the kitchen and emailed weekly.
Outings are weather permitted. Inclement weather forbids outside recess. Note your child will go out every day for at least one hour when the weather is between 30 degrees to 90 degrees. Dress accordingly. If the children are unable to go outside, gross motor skills are encouraged inside through different mediums are shown through the Class Album.
Diapers are changed in between scheduled time if there is a BM or if needed. Potty training is worked in conjunction with the parent’s style and child’s needs and abilities.
The whole day schedule is set up for the convenience of the working parent/guardian. The afternoon is balanced to include school age children and allow for creativity, learning and free play. The time spans for each activity are age appropriate and attention span appropriate. Schedules may vary by 10 to 15 minutes based on the children’s interest and length of activity. Children are encouraged to participate in the activities but not forced. The scheduled is balanced so that the child employs gross motor skills vs. fine mother skills, cognitive learning vs. center play time.
The teacher’s manual, lessons plan, and books are available for review if you would like to know what the specific lesson plans are for that day. The curriculum is based upon the child’s particular interest, growth, and development and individual abilities. Math, science, language, manipulative, music, drama and art compose the learning centers. The “subjects” or domains are taught through hands on and appropriate lessons throughout the course of the day.
Free play time or center time is a required part of the day according to meet the standards for quality childcare. Children need to have their time to socialize freely, play without directives and explore their creativity. During free play time, the learning centers are open for exploration and observations are made. Parents and guardian are welcome to join in throughout the day. Volunteers for parties are always welcome.
